Innocent ... 'Leaving things just a little bit better than we found them.'

Picture
Innocent is one of our very favourite companies in the whole world.  It's a brilliant example of a new paradigm company that follows its vision ... 'to leave things just a litle bit better than we find them.'  For example, they ran a programme called 'Buy One, Get One Tree' where for each compostable carton registered by customers on their website, they planted a tree in the country they buy their fruit from.  And now they're doing 'Buy One, Get One Bee' to create good environments for honey bees.

They've recently published a book on their business called 'a book about innocent ... our story and some things we've learned'.  It's a brilliant look at branding in new paradigm ways.

Watch this YouTube video below to listen to co-founder Richard Reed talk about innocent and their approach to the people in their business: "I think the best businesses, especially the ones going forward, are going to be the ones that ask the people that work in the businesses to remain as those people while they do their business work, to keep their personal values, to not check in their personality at the door.  I want people that can come in and make business decisions that while financially astute are actually socially aware. I can't expect people like that to stay around if they're going to be working in a business that doesn't have integrity.  If you can find people that are commercially aware and socially aware, it's such a killer combination. ... It means we can all be prouder.  It means it's a more exciting place to work.  It means we can keep these talented, intelligent, passionate people engaged for longer and that's surely got to be the best route to being a successful business."

Wikipedia ... A message from founder Jimmy Wales Dec. 2011

Picture
_"Wikipedia is the #5 site on the web and serves 454 million different people every month – with billions of page views.

Commerce is fine.  Advertising is not evil.  But it doesn't belong here. Not in Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is something special.  It is like a library or a public park. It is like a temple for the mind.  It is a place we can all go to think, to learn, to share our knowledge with others.

When I founded Wikipedia, I could have made it into a for-profit company with advertising banners, but I decided to do something different.  We’ve worked hard over the years to keep it lean and tight. We fulfil our mission, and leave waste to others.

If everyone reading this could give just £3 a month, we would only have to fundraise for one day a year. But not everyone can or will donate.  And that's fine. Each year just enough people decide to give.  This year, please consider making a donation of £3, £5, £10 a month or whatever you can afford, to protect and sustain Wikipedia.

Thanks, Jimmy Wales , Wikipedia Founder  www.wikipedia.org

Google ... A working paradise

In 2006, Google was voted best employer in America by Fortune magazine.  A look at this YouTube video will show you exactly why ... Larry Page and Sergey Brin have created a highly creative culture.  Their moto 'don't be evil' has set the standard for them to lead with innovative, customer oriented thinking.  They allocate to most of their employees a day a week (20% of their time) to work on projects they're passionate about, which has produced a good number of Google's technological breakthroughs.  Read all about them in the new bestseller 'Googled', which you can find out more about in our Books to Inspire section.

Maddock Douglas ... making heroes out of their clients

Super-creative businesses have a culture of innovation streaming through them, infused into the very nature of the business and in every person within it.  We recently watched an interview of two of the founders of Maddock Douglas www.maddockdouglas.com and one of the key things they talked about is a sense of wonder as their hiring criteria and the need for adventure in their daily lives.  Their enthusiasm for creativity is infectious.  Their vision:   "Remember how much fun it was to think anything was possible?  We did and still do.  When we opened our doors in 1991, we were hooked on the rush of bringing new ideas to life – that magical moment when “What if?” turns into “A-ha!”  Our goal was to build a destination for the most inventive, optimistic people – teammates and clients included – and that still rings true.  Our passion for revolutionary, industry-changing ideas has fueled our reputation for propelling new products and services that make heroes out of our clients."

Second Life ... Creating community culture

Watch this YouTube video below of Second Life founder, Philip Rosedale, who describes how Second Life as a company was designed and fulfilled by getting everyone, employees and clients, involved in growing the business.  He says "We designed the company so that everyone is a strategist ... and that leads you to a different culture which is more like living together in a city or community, than working in a company. ... We told everyone, you're responsible for making the best contribution you can to Second Life. ... Very high transparency, very high accountabilty and a lot of freedom."

And of course there's us ... The Visionary Network

Picture
We're a very different kind of business.  We're a global alliance of independent, autonomous entrepreneurs who are passionately creating a vibrant new world ... individually and collaboratively.  We don't have employees.  We only have empowered, resonant, super creative relationships with people who share our passions.  We operate from passion and from what feels right to do in the moment, living 24/7 true to everything we say we are.  We stand for abundance for all and win/win/win is the only scenario we choose to create for everyone involved.  We orient only to potential and never to problem.  Everything that happens is an opportunity for something new to come through to direct our next activities.   We span the globe influencing the way business, coaching, leadership and more shows up in the 21st century.  To find out more about how we operate in new paradigm ways, read our 'How To' Guide for Visionary Entrepreneurs on the Visionary Entrepreneurs page.
